About twenty years ago, organizations like the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, jointly slated April as the officialmonth for awareness on sexual assault. It was done in a bid to mobilize all efforts and activities geared towards highlightingand creating awareness on sexual violence —as both a public health and human right issue, while gearing and powering allprevention efforts.
April 2021 marks the 20th anniversary of the annual Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and in observance of this monumental epoch and all it entails. NGWomen4Peace, an organization “on a mission to promote, sensitize and mobilize Nigerian women for peace advocacy,” recently announced it’s essay competition for young female Nigerian writers; themed: Sexual Assault as a Weapon of War: History, Effect and Prevention.
The winner will be entitled to a Roving Heights gift voucher, while the top three entries will be published on NgWomen4Peace’s microblog.
