OF THIS OUR COUNTRY essay competition is an ample opportunity for you to get published as an essay writer. All you need to do is to write a personal essay ranging from 2500-3,500 words. Your essay should serve as a lens through which readers will be able to explore Nigeria following the experiences and memories you have penned down. 

It is open to all un-agented and un-published Nigerian writers all over the world as the aim of this competition is to identify upcoming writers from Nigeria and unify them with already established and celebrated writers. 

Upcoming and skilled Nigerian writers who are vocal about their thoughts and experiences as Nigerians are highly encouraged to participate. Your essay should possess one or more of the following features:1. Reflections on the Nigeria that you know2. A memory or memories you have of Nigeria that is/are significant to you3. How and where you have experienced Nigeria, be that in the country itself, or in an aspect of its culture and traditions found elsewhere

Whoever emerges as the winner will be given a prize money of £1000 and also have their essay featured amongst notable writers such as Chimamanda NgoziAdichie, Yomi Adegoke, Sefi Atta, Chigozie Obioma, Helon Habila and Inua Ellams,  The winner of the competition will have their essay published in OF THIS OUR COUNTRY alongside acclaimed Nigerian writers including Helon Habila, Chimamanda NgoziAdichie, Chigozie Obioma, Sefi Atta, Inua Ellamsand Yomi Adegoke. 

Submit Your essay via email to nigeriaproject@harpercollins.co.uk. Submissions begin on 11th January 2021, 00:01 GMT and end on 23:59 GMT on 1st March 2021, 23:59 GMT.
