Novena to Euphoria Amuda Abbas Oluwadamilola

 after Olamide's Science Student

There are no altars in Canto parish—

where Olamide's *Science Student is the only guiding hymn /as we push /pellets of destruction/ down gullets

Each cloud of smoke bubbling up our lips/ a novena to euphoria/ stoning butterflies in their wake

Mother Depression sits on the other side of the door/ turbaned with immaculate sheets of synchronized chaos/ an ode craning from her cracked lips

"Father Lord, forgive them as they blameth me for this too"

•Canto [ noun, Portuguese] a secret or secluded place
