Arts Lounge Literary Magazine launches the second issue of The Green we Left Behind Anthology, which documents the Inter-generational Stories of Nigerians on Climate Change.
The project which was joint curated by Adaeze M. Nwadike, founding editor of Arts Lounge Literary Magazine and the Green we Left Behind Project, and US based professor of English, Unoma Azuah and in partnership with Parents for Future Nigeria, and Our Kids Climate, commenced in January with a call for submission from the general public on the theme of climate change and how it affects Nigerian children.
Attached to the project was a writing contest, which was judged by Professor Unoma Azuah, Professor Sule Emmanuel Egya and Dr. Amuche Nnabueze. At the launch of the book, which took place at the National Children’s Park and Zoo in Abuja, issues of Climate Change and crisis that have affected Nigeria greatly in recent times were discussed. Adaeze M. Nwadike while talking about the project urged Nigerians to be conscious of the consequences of our actions to the planet, as it is the most important place children will inherit from us.
The event, which was funded by UMIFund through the Social Change Nest, UK, ended with the awarding of cash prizes to the winners of the writing contest. Winners of the writing contest and their prizes are as follows:
