Below is the shortlist for the 1st Quarter of The Wakaso Poetry Prize, 2024:

• Ojo Victoria Ilemobayo – The Weight of a Thousand Strands.
• Hairat Balogun – Oshodi.
• Favour Orlando – Lotus Flower.
• Pacella Chukwuma-Eke – Post- Bellum.
• Zara Ibrahim – Gowns.

A first quarter of this poetry prize recorded a total of 75 entries. Submission entries came in from Nigeria( with 66 entries,) Kenya( with one entry,) Ghana( with 6 entries,) and Uganda( with 2 entries.) A total of 5 entries were disqualified. The second quarter, however, received more remarkable and engaging entries.
