Nineteen year old poet and assistant editor at the Arts Lounge Magazine, Pacella Chukwuma-Eke, is the current Slam Champion of the Abuja Literary Pre-festival Slam 2024. The inaugural event was held at the Rovingheights Bookstore with about fifteen slam royalties.

After the intense battle of words and metaphors in the first and second rounds, the following contenders for the title of Slam Championship proceeded to the final round:

Abdulrazaq Salihu and Neji John were the first and second runner ups.

Winner’s Biography

Pacella Chukwuma-Eke is the author of Love In Its Bliss and Sins; runner-up for the Nigerian Prize for Teen Authors, Poetry Category; and The Apocalypse, published by Konya Shamsrumi. She has her works published in several journals including Roughcut Press, EunoiaReview, Strange Horizons, Lolwe, and elsewhere.

She has also graced literary stages including the Orange Poetry Soapbox Edition, The Renaissance Conversation, The Green We Left Behind Book Launch, and others. She is the winner of the Utopian Award for poetry 2023, The Green We Left Behind Poetry Slam, ANA Poetry Slam, and a recipient of the HIASFEST’s 2024 Star Prize Award.
