The Hilltop Creative Arts Foundation, Abuja Branch, is calling on poets, between the ages of 13-19, across all corners and borders of Nigeria, to submit their manuscripts for the inaugural BM Dzukogi Chapbook Prize.
This competition was curated in honor of Baba Mohammad Dzukogi, the founder of the Hilltop Creative Arts Foundation.
Submission Window: December 15, 2024 – February 28, 2025
Guidelines:
- Eligibility: Nigerian (Age 13 – 19)
- Manuscripts should contain a minimum of 15 poems and maximum of 25 poems. The maximum length of the submitted works should be 30 pages.
- Writers are not limited to a particular theme, but rather, are encouraged to explore any theme of choice in a dynamic, diverse, and unique way. However, manuscripts must not contain AI or plagiarized work.
- The manuscript must be previously unpublished. It’s okay to have some published poems included in the manuscript.
- No name should be on the manuscript. Nevertheless, include a cover page with the title of the manuscript.
- Manuscripts should be sent to hcafabuja@gmail.com together with a brief biographical note (not more than 100 words) and a portrait photograph. The body of the mail should include the full name, address, age and telephone number.
- Entrant must not have previously published beyond a chapbook.
NOTE:
- Two winners will be awarded the total cash prize of ₦60,000 (Your art deserves more but that is what we can offer at this time. If we have donors, changes and announcement will be made)
- Selected manuscripts will be published as e-books for free download.
- Two judges will select winning manuscripts and finalists.
