Marie Bliss is set to make her literary debut with a new children’s book titled The Hair You Were Created With, a story that centers natural hair, affirmation, and self-love for young readers.

Described as “a celebration of natural hair, for princesses everywhere,” the book introduces children to a gentle, imaginative world where hair is not a problem to be fixed but a gift to be embraced. Through warm illustrations and simple, affirming language, the story encourages children—particularly Black girls—to see their natural hair as beautiful, intentional, and worthy of pride.

Bliss, who announced the forthcoming release on social media, described the book as the realization of a long-held dream. What began years ago as an idea has now taken shape as a published work, marking her first step into children’s literature. She has spoken openly about the emotional weight of the moment and her excitement about sharing both the story and the inspiration behind it.

The book’s cover features a young Black girl with natural hair, seated beneath an open sky, framed by soft colors and playful details. A symbolic hand reaching down from above reinforces the book’s central message: that every child is created with intention and care. The visual language of the book complements its theme, positioning natural hair within a context of innocence, wonder, and affirmation.

Bliss has also acknowledged the personal support behind the project, crediting her husband, Moses Bliss, for encouraging her to complete the manuscript and backing the project from concept to publication. While The Hair You Were Created With is a children’s book, its creation story reflects a broader narrative about creative persistence, partnership, and believing in one’s voice.

The book is expected to be released soon, with updates to be shared through the author’s official channels and website. As conversations around representation, identity, and self-esteem in children’s literature continue to grow, Bliss’s debut enters the space with a clear and timely message: affirmation begins early, and every child deserves to see themselves reflected with dignity and joy.

The Hair You Were Created With will be Bliss’s first published book, but it already signals the arrival of a new voice committed to telling stories that nurture confidence from childhood.
