SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
ArtsLounge is currently open for submissions for Volume 1, Issue 1 until February 28th 2020. This call is an open submission and writers can submit works with variant themes, styles, and forms, either as traditional pieces or hybrids. We love queer and unusual pieces, unconventional experiments, outsider pieces, and audacious thoughts meant for heathens. Please include a content warning if your piece is vulgar or depicts violence in a very graphic way. We accept poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, plays, art.

 GENRES
Poetry: You can submit three to five poems, with a maximum of 12 pages. Send us your punk, experimental, strange and hybrid poems.
Prose: Submit short stories, creative non-fiction, and flash fiction pieces between 600 to 2000 words. As an open-minded publication, we accept almost every piece, not minding how daring or controversial. Write about what you are passionate about and submit!
Plays: Plays must be between 8-14 pages max (this includes all experimental pieces that fall under the play or screenplay category)
ART- We accept pictures, illustrations, digital art, sculpture, and more, as long as it can be digitally sent to us. Submit 2-3 images in the format that allows for the best quality, but be prepared to make changes when requested during the design process. Kindly include an artist’s statement.

General guidelines: send all submissions to artsloungenyc@gmail.com. Kindly state the genre you are submitting to in the subject line of your email.
All written pieces must be in Times New Roman, font 12 with 1 or 1.5 line spacing. With respect to style and originality, kindly include a statement in your submission with respect to the arrangement of your work and or the form you would like it to retain in the final design.

 PUBLICATION RIGHTS
Arts Lounge reserves all rights to the author/artist. However, we just ask that you mention Arts lounge as the original publisher of your work should it ever appear elsewhere. We prefer submissions as a collection attached in emails in a .doc/.docx format for written submissions. Please do not include your name anywhere on the submitted piece, but instead we ask that you include a short bio along with your submission(s).
We accept simultaneous submissions as long as the author/writer notifies us as soon as the piece gets accepted elsewhere. Also, we do not accept pieces that have been published elsewhere, either on a personal blog or website.
Unfortunately, we cannot pay our contributors at this time as we are a volunteer-run literary magazine. We hope that we get to that point in the future where we can pay our contributors.
If you have further questions regarding the submission process, kindly send us an email at artsloungenyc@gmail.com or send us a direct message on Twitter at @LoungeArts. In your email, specify the reason by using the subject line “questions for submissions”.
