With every new year comes a craving or mild pressure to set new goals, birth new hopes, and experience [new] growth.
Writers are not exempt from this positive culture. We have had dialogues with writers whose goals for the year include: write more, get published, live a little longer, win prices, seek highs, go-down-low, better their craft, bless nights with candlelight and tangled pants, etc.
We discovered that writers who desire to get published and receive financial remuneration from their crafts, often find it difficult to access suitable literary homes for their works. Here at Arts lounge, we have curated a playlist of ten places you can send your works to this month, and get paid upon acceptance or publication.


The 10 Places where writers can submit their works

  1. Adi Magazine: Adi magazine focuses on political fiction that “unearths new worlds, that plumb interior
    lives alongside external conflicts, that satirize and fantasize, that disturb, beguile, challenge, surprise,
    ignite.”
    Payment: 2,500 words or more — $500
    Flash fiction — $200

2: Shenandoah: They are looking for short stories and creative nonfiction, poetry, novel excerpts, and comics.
“Shenandoah aims to showcase a wide variety of voices and perspectives in terms of gender identity,
age, class. We love publishing new writers; publishing history is not a prerequisite either.”
Payment: Poem — $100 (per poem)
Prose — $100 (per 1000 words of prose up to $500)
Comics — $50 (per page of comics)
