The Johannesburg Institute for Advanced Study (JIAS), is currently accepting applications for its debut writing workshop.

The writing workshop by JIAS would feature amongst other things: mentorship from established and accomplished writers; an intensive creative experience; accommodation at JIAS’ private residence; and daily meals.

The JIAS workshop is scheduled to run from the 2nd of June 2022, to the 9th of June of the same year. It promises four weeks of intensive writing for emerging writers who have literary projects they would like to complete or polish. Although all selected writers would focus on their personal development and projects, there would be room for interaction and peer review.

The JIAS Writers’ Workshop is open to African writers who work in fiction (long and short form), creative nonfiction, playwriting, screenwriting, and poetry. On the miscellaneous side, the writers would benefit from Joburg’s vitality and diversity, while being mentored by writers who are at the top of their game—masters in every sense of the craft.
