[after Fadairo Tesleem]

It is that moment, when fright immerses itself in me,
When blood loses its ways in my arteries,
When my body and my soul turn against each other.

It's about my eyes that'd halt beholding its loved ones,
& my ears that would never - again - hear the cries of the world,
My withered mouth, & my body, a log of wood.

The new christening; children tagged orphans & wife named widow.
