RNtsika Kota Becomes the first LiSwati to win the Commonwealth Short Story Prize for the African Region
Recently, the Commonwealth Short Story Prize announced its regional winners for this year’s prize. Meanwhile, its 2022 overall winner will be announced in an online ceremony at 1 pm, Tuesday 21 June, and at a special event as part of the Commonwealth People’s Forum in Kigali, Rwanda.
However, the African regional prize was won by Ntsika Kota, from Eswatini, for his story, “and the earth drank deep”, which the judge, Louise Umutoni-Bower, describes as “a universal story”. This winning would make him the first liSwati to make the regional win.
