The winner of the 2022 Sillerman Book Prize for African Poetry is Tares Oburumu for his manuscript, “Origin of the Syma Species”.

Tares Oburumu will receive the cash prize of $1,000 and his winning manuscript will be published by the University of Nebraska Press.

Sillerman First Book Prize for African Poets honours the finest first full-length poetry manuscript by an African or poets of African descent and comes with a book publication offer from the University of Nebraska Press.

He writes from Warri. His works have appeared on Expound, Bluepepper, Agbowo, Praxis, Afapinen, Connotation Press and elsewhere.
