Nigerian Filmmaker, Wapah Ezeigwe, has just concluded the production of his short film, A LITTLE TIME LEFT. The film which was shot in Lagos, Nigeria, stars actors, Kem Ajieh Ikechukwu and Myde Glover in lead roles. A LITTLE TIME LEFT follows a pianist (Myde Glover) who in the care of his compassionate lover (Kem Ajieh Ikechukwu) battles a degenerative ailment while struggling to come to terms with the last days of his life.

The production of the film was not a seamless one, says Ezeigwe, who had to film within three production days with a limited budget. Ezeigwe stated that although production appeared to be bottleneck at some point, he had a very passionate team of filmmakers who worked hard to still achieve the cinematic vision of the film, “I think I am privileged to always have considerate and passionate filmmakers as a team. Despite the difficulties encountered, we prevailed and achieved everything we envisioned for the film.” Ezeigwe says.

A LITTLE TIME LEFT is a film about love, loss, a reflection on death and transition. According to Ezeigwe, the film which centers queer characters is many miles away from the usual queer stories with heterosexual confrontation. Ezeigwe says, “there is absolutely nothing wrong with queer stories that depicts our struggles in a heteronormative society, in fact, those stories are very important because they show us what our realities are now, however, we do not just have a single reality. There are so many aspects to the queer life, so many experiences. I wanted to explore those aspects and experiences. When “A Little Time Left” came to me, it came not as a story about struggle but as a reflection on intimacy, human mortality, and transition.”

There is no specified release date for “A Little Time Left”. Although trailers and teasers would be released, Ezeigwe noted that once the film is done through post-production it would be headed to the festival circuit just the same way as his debut short film, COUNTRY LOVE.
