The publisher, Mmụta Books, released Michael Chiedoziem Chukwudera’s novel, Woman at a Crossroads, for public purchase on June 12, 2026. The publication follows the remarkable success of his debut novel, Loss Is an Aftertaste of Memories.

According to the publisher, the sophomore novel follows Ugomma, who finds herself at a crossroads between the life she hopes to have and the fate she has been dealt. The story suggests that she may be able to have it all. Yet, despite being married, she is haunted by a deep sense of nostalgia and decides to leave behind the life she has always known. Fate opens the door to a new chapter in her life, and she can only discover what lies ahead by moving forward, just as the novel invites readers to do alongside her.

Earlier, on May 2, 2026, Mmụta Books unveiled the cover of the novel. The design features shades of green, white, and yellow, with two female figures and a sunset motif that reflect the novel’s themes of journey, choice, and self-discovery.

The novel contains strong narration and vivid descriptions. One example reads:

“At 19, she was just beginning to envision the kind of future she wished for herself. After eating dinner and having her bath, she returned to her room, heavy with thoughts, and drifted off to sleep.”
