Paperworth Books has announced the acquisition of Indigo, the acclaimed short story collection by Nigerian writer, journalist, editor, and critic Molara Wood, with a new edition set for publication before the end of the year. The independent publisher also revealed that it has acquired a brand-new novel by Wood, which is scheduled for release next year. The announcement marks an exciting new chapter for one of Nigeria’s most respected literary voices, bringing both a celebrated classic and an eagerly anticipated new work to readers.

Born in Osun State, Nigeria, Molara Wood is widely recognized for her contributions to literature, journalism, and arts criticism. Her fiction, poetry, essays, and criticism have appeared in numerous local and international publications, while her distinguished career has included serving as Arts and Culture Editor at NEXT newspaper, writing an arts column for The Guardian (Nigeria), and mentoring emerging writers.

First published in 2013, Indigo received critical acclaim for its nuanced exploration of migration, identity, womanhood, and belonging, with many of its stories centering on African women navigating complex social and cultural realities. The collection has been praised for its emotional depth and lyrical storytelling, cementing Wood’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading contemporary writers.
