A Public Space is accepting submissions for a special portfolio titled “Impenetrability as a Generative Force,” guest edited by Editorial Fellow Berta Coll. The magazine is seeking previously unpublished fiction, nonfiction, and translations that explore impenetrability as a source of creativity, discovery, and new ways of seeing the world. The selected works will be published in a special portfolio.
The opportunity is open to writers worldwide who have not yet published or signed a contract for a book-length work with a U.S. publisher. Submissions may be up to 6,000 words and must include a cover letter with a short biography and a brief explanation of how the piece connects to the theme. There is no submission fee, and simultaneous submissions are welcome.
Entries must be submitted through Submittable by July 13, 2026. Only one submission per writer is permitted, and all applicants will receive a response by the end of August. International writers are encouraged to apply, making this an excellent opportunity for emerging writers seeking publication in a respected literary magazine.
