Nigerian photographers and filmmakers now have an opportunity to secure funding, mentorship, and national recognition through the Tell That Story x Fujifilm Visual Storytelling Grant 2026.
Building on the success of Tell That Story’s previous SOLO Open Call, the new initiative partners with Fujifilm to support the next generation of visual storytellers in Nigeria. The grant is designed to provide unrestricted funding and professional development for artists whose work expands how people see and understand the world.
This year’s theme is “Renewal,” inviting artists to explore ideas of persistence, transformation, resilience, repair, continuity, hope, and new ways of seeing. Applicants are encouraged to interpret the theme through photography, film, or interdisciplinary visual storytelling.
The application period runs from July 10 to August 5, 2026.
Five selected artists will each receive:
- ₦1,000,000 in unrestricted grant funding.
- Exhibition opportunities at the Tell That Story x Fujifilm Visual Storytelling Grant Exhibition during Exposed Conference 2026 in Benin City.
- Features across the official platforms of Tell That Story and Fujifilm.
- Mentorship throughout the grant programme.
- An opportunity to participate as panelists during Exposed Conference 2026 and The Conversation.
The grant is open to photographers and filmmakers based in Nigeria, regardless of career stage.
Applicants are encouraged to submit projects that reimagine everyday people, places, and experiences through fresh perspectives while exploring themes such as life, light, hope, transformation, and resilience. Documentary, conceptual, abstract, experimental, figurative, and socially engaged works are all welcome.
Applications from artists representing underrepresented communities and diverse backgrounds are particularly encouraged. However, AI-generated images will not be accepted.
