AuthenticA African Series Lab is now accepting applications from screenwriters based in Africa for its six-month programme. The programme combines online and in-person sessions, with the in-person components taking place in Ethiopia, Switzerland, and Spain.

Applications are currently open and will close on August 1, 2026. Applicants must submit a story set in Africa. Scripts may be written in English or any other language. Only screenwriters with substantial experience in television and film are encouraged to apply. Group applications are not encouraged, as only the individual applicant will be considered.

Selected participants will receive funding from the Lab. Each of the four selected participants will receive €1,250 per month throughout the programme to cover living expenses. In addition, the Lab will cover transportation costs to the in-person sessions. However, participants are responsible for the costs of their visas and travel insurance, as these are not covered by the Lab.
