The Somerset House Studios is opening a call for artists to apply for the Assembly Residence. It is a “returning residency programme for artists working in music and sound whose practices are interested in experimentation and cross-disciplinary collaboration.”

The 2025 edition of the residency was shaped through mentorship from artists Beatrice Dillon and Elaine Mitchener, and they will also host the 2026 edition. The application is open year round.

  • Free, dedicated, shared studio space at Somerset House.
  • £3,000.00 project budget (including artist fee).
  • Mentorship programme from Beatrice Dillion & Elaine Mitchener
  • Production support, including access to on-site recording studio and rehearsal spaces.
  • A bespoke Artist Development Programme featuring critical discussions and listening sessions.
  • Dedicated time with a sound engineer.
  • Editorial advice through sessions with The Wire magazine.
  • Access to the artist community-based at Somerset House Studios, with opportunities for networking, social events, and peer support.
  • Support from the Somerset House Studios team to help develop and realise the projects.
