University of Leeds is inviting applications for its Leeds University Business School PhD Excellence Scholarships 2026/27, offering two fully funded opportunities for talented researchers seeking to pursue doctoral studies in Marketing in the United Kingdom. Leeds University Business School is offering two PhD Excellence Scholarships as part of its investment in research excellence.

Successful candidates will undertake PhD research within the Marketing Department of Leeds University Business School, with the awards available for 3.5 years of full-time study. Available to both domestic and international applicants, successful candidates will receive maintenance allowance of £21,805 for the 2026/27 academic year. The maintenance allowance will increase annually in line with the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) rate.
Successful Candidates will also receive UK visa costs, Insurance-related costs, NHS or Immigration Health Surcharge fees, Flights, other relocation expenses. Application will run until September 15, 2026 for scholarship, while application for the PhD programme will close on September 6, 2026.
Applicants should normally have:
- A first-class or upper second-class Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in an appropriate discipline.
- A British Master’s degree or equivalent qualification from an overseas university, or an equivalent professional qualification.
- For Marketing and other specified Business School departments, a minimum Master’s average of 60 percent, or equivalent, in an appropriate academic discipline..
- English Proficiency. Applicants whose first language is not English must provide evidence of meeting the Business School’s English-language requirements: IELTS overall: 7.0. Equivalent qualifications may be accepted.
Applicantion process involves two stages:
Stage 1: Applicants must first apply for a research study place at Leeds University Business School. Candidates should complete the relevant PhD application and provide all required supporting documents. Applicants should clearly indicate the department scholarship they intend to apply for.
Stage 2: After receiving the student ID number, applicants must complete the Leeds University Business School Department Scholarship application. For candidates applying for the Marketing award, the appropriate Marketing Scholarship application form must be completed.
