The inaugural Abuja Festival of Literature and Ideas (AFLI) will bring writers, thinkers and cultural figures to the Federal Capital Territory from October 9-10, 2026. The festival’s guest lineup includes Nigerian writers and cultural figures Abdulkareem Baba Aminu, Fatima Bala, Fatima Zahra Umar, Gloria Chinyere Okwu, Hadiza Isma El-Rufai, Joseph Ike, Khadija Yusra Sanusi, Nana Sule, Nkereuwem Albert, Richard Ali and Sanusi Ismaila, alongside Italian astrophysicist Prof. Roberto Trotta, Colombian diplomat Sergio Jaramillo and Zimbabwean scholar and writer Simukai Chigudu.

Organised by the Book Buzz Foundation, the festival forms part of the foundation’s broader work promoting literacy and creating reading spaces for children, as well as organising cultural and literary festivals in Nigeria and beyond. AFLI’s programme brings together literature, ideas and cultural exchange, with guests whose work spans fiction, poetry, journalism, scholarship, publishing and public life. The festival will take place in Abuja as a new addition to Nigeria’s growing literary festival calendar.

With the first edition now approaching, the Abuja Festival of Literature and Ideas has opened ticket sales, allowing attendees to secure their places for the October 9-10 festival. The event is set to offer Abuja audiences an opportunity to engage directly with writers and thinkers from Nigeria and beyond.
