The Rufford Foundation is open for application from interested applicants to apply. The foundation funds nature conservation projects in emerging or developing economy countries.

The funding process is staged, with four levels of support: 1st RSG, 2nd RSG, Booster Grant and Completion Grant. They award grants from the range of £7,000 to £18,000. There are no deadlines – applications can be submitted at any time of year. Unsuccessful applicants may re-apply after 12 months.

To be eligible for this grant:

  •  You should be in the early stages of your conservation career. We focus on supporting current MSc or PhD students or recent graduates, though others can apply if they fit the additional criteria listed here. However, we do not fund undergraduate students.
  •  Your project must have a nature conservation focus.
  •  Your project must be working in an eligible country.
  •  Any species you are working on must be considered threatened.
