The 50 Percent Storytelling Fellowship initiative is calling on young people passionate about climate action, social justice, sustainability, and community advocacy to apply for its 2026 storytelling fellowship. The programme is designed to connect fellows with a diverse international community of young leaders committed to building a more equitable and sustainable world.

“The Storytelling Fellowship is a free online programme that empowers young people to become confident communicators and advocates. Rather than focusing solely on theory, the fellowship emphasizes practical storytelling through guided discussions, peer learning, mentorship, and creative content production.”

The programme offers the following benefits:

  • Free participation in the 10-week online fellowship
  • Expert mentorship and facilitated learning sessions
  • Hands-on training in multimedia storytelling
  • Mobile filmmaking and video editing instruction
  • Blog writing and social media content creation
  • Community-building with global young changemakers
  • Personal leadership and self-empowerment development
  • An official certificate upon successful completion
  • Throughout the programme, fellows engage with important global topics, including:

The fellowship welcomes young people from diverse backgrounds who are committed to creating positive social impact. To be eligible, applicants must have an interest in one of the following areas:

  • Climate activists
  • Youth advocates
  • Social justice campaigners
  • Sustainability leaders
  • Community organisers
  • Members of social impact networks
  • Emerging storytellers and content creators

By the end of the fellowship, participants will have developed both practical and leadership skills through real-world projects. Each fellow will:

  • Publish two original stories in their preferred format, including a reel, blog article, or social media carousel
  • Deliver a peer-led mini lesson to strengthen facilitation and public speaking skills
  • Build a professional network of like-minded young changemakers
  • Receive an official programme certificate after successfully completing the fellowship
