St John’s College Oxford Career Development Research Fellowships is opening applications for the 2027 Fully funded research opportunity at the college for the span of four years. The prestigious fellowship programme offers up to six appointments across multiple disciplines and provides four years of funded research support at the University of Oxford starting from October 1, 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Applications are accepted from both domestic and international applicants who have an interest in the following subject areas:
- Economics: Applicants from any economics field are welcome.
However, particular interest will be given to candidates working on:
- Economics of science
- Research policy
- Higher education
- Experimental economics
- Quasi-experimental research
- Policy design and evaluation
The successful candidate may also have opportunities to collaborate with the Fellow for Research on seminars and events related to their field.
Additional fellowships are available in:
- Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (Modern Arabic Literature with a life-writing focus)
- Anthropology of Forced Migration
- Philosophy
- Human Sciences
- Biomedical Sciences
Interdisciplinary applications are also encouraged and will be allocated to the most appropriate subject area at the discretion of the College.

Applicants should be early-career researchers who have recently completed a doctorate; or are close to completing a doctorate and will have submitted their thesis no later than three months before the fellowship start date.
