Adesuwa O’Man Nwokedi is returning with a new book, and this time she is bringing Lagos, and all its complications of love, with her. The bestselling Nigerian romance writer has unveiled Lagos, My Valentine, a collection of ten interconnected love stories forthcoming from Masobe Books on February 4, 2027. Set against Lagos on Valentine’s Day, the collection follows writers, chefs, couples, sisters, friends and strangers as they navigate longing, heartbreak, forgiveness and unexpected second chances. Among its stories is a bestselling romance novelist who accidentally sends her manuscript to an aloof colleague, two people chasing a cake across the city, a couple dancing through the possibility of a final goodbye, and sisters who uncover their late mother’s secrets and a forbidden love.

The new collection arrives after years of prolific work that has established Nwokedi as one of the most recognisable voices in Nigerian contemporary romance. Her catalogue includes the popular Ginika’s Bridesmaids series, The Sisters, A Love of Convenience, The Marriage Class, Moroti Wants a Virgo, No Perfect Love and the Malomo High Reunion series, among numerous other titles. Her books repeatedly return to imperfect relationships, marriage, family, desire and the complicated ways people find their way back to one another. Ginika’s Bridesmaids, for instance, grew into a multi-book series, while No Perfect Love revisits first love and marriage against the backdrop of 1990s Festac. Masobe currently describes Nwokedi as an author with 28 titles “and counting,” while other recent publisher listings describe her body of work as spanning more than 30 titles.

For Nwokedi, whose journey into writing began with what she describes as a few scribbles for friends, Lagos, My Valentine represents another expansion of a remarkably prolific romance career. She has continued publishing while working as an investment banker and building a catalogue that includes both series fiction and standalone novels; her recent Moroti Wants a Virgo was published by Masobe in 2025, while No Perfect Love followed a woman confronting the return of her first love decades after their separation.
