The Caine Prize for African Writing has opened applications for two self-editing workshops scheduled to take place in Lagos and Port Harcourt, Nigeria, in November 2026. Organised in partnership with the British Council, the workshops aim to help writers strengthen their manuscripts and prepare their work for publication. The Lagos workshop will run from November 17–18, while the Port Harcourt edition is scheduled for November 23–24. Applications close on October 31, 2026.

Facilitated by writer and journalist Molara Wood, the workshops will feature masterclasses and talks with publishers, giving participants an opportunity to develop the critical skills needed to revise their work to a publishable standard. The programme will also provide a supportive environment for writers to connect with fellow participants and engage with the editorial process. Topics include how editors read manuscripts, structural editing, line editing and language, and preparing work for submission.

The workshops are intended for writers seeking to strengthen their self-editing skills and improve their readiness for literary publication. By focusing on the stages between completing a draft and submitting it to publishers or literary journals, the programme offers participants a chance to examine their work more critically and understand what makes a manuscript submission-ready. Interested writers can apply through the link provided on the Caine Prize’s official social media page before the October 31 deadline.
