Nollywood filmmaker Funke Akindele is set to take her latest feature film, The Four: No One Fights Alone, to London for a UK premiere at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square on November 29, 2026. Announcing the event on her Instagram page, Akindele described it as the first time a Nollywood film will premiere at the prestigious cinema venue, marking another international milestone for the Nigerian film industry. Produced by Funke Akindele Network and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, the film is scheduled to open in cinemas globally on December 11. Its ensemble cast includes Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji, Ali Nuhu, Uzor Arukwe and Wunmi Toriola, alongside singer Waje and Afrobeats artiste Shoday.
The film follows Esosa and three women whose journey from their community to the city puts their friendship, loyalty and courage to the test as they fight for the future of a young man they love. Set between the Odu community and the city, the drama explores friendship, motherhood, sacrifice and resilience, with Nigerian music, fashion, language and cultural traditions woven into its storytelling. The London premiere comes alongside a promotional partnership between Akindele and Facebook, which will support the film’s London and Lagos premiere events. The collaboration will give audiences access to behind-the-scenes footage, premiere preparations and other exclusive content, while a creator-hosted space at the events will encourage social media coverage and engagement. The partnership is designed to extend the film’s visibility beyond the cinema audience and connect its promotional campaign with viewers in Nigeria and the diaspora.
Akindele has built a career spanning acting, writing, directing and producing, becoming one of Nollywood’s most commercially successful filmmakers. She first gained widespread recognition through the television sitcom I Need to Know and later became widely known for creating and starring in the Jenifa franchise. Her filmography includes Omo Ghetto: The Saga, Battle on Buka Street, A Tribe Called Judah and Everybody Loves Jenifa. Her 2025 film Behind the Scenes also crossed the ₦2 billion mark at the Nigerian box office, extending her record of major theatrical successes. With The Four, Akindele is continuing her strategy of pairing large ensemble casts and stories rooted in Nigerian experiences with increasingly expansive release and promotional campaigns.
