a wake of vultures feeding on a dead animal

Drawn, not by carcasses

Nor driven by the stench of animal blood

Nocturnal predators

From distant places

Swarming dark alleys

Suffocating the street branches

Lying in wait for the ungodly hours

Just before dawn

With ravenous appetites

Preying on loose loins

Too wayward to remember

Their dotting spouses snoring away

Keeping vigil over meals gone cold

Only to be rewarded

With storage ailments

Even as the vultures retreat

To a ferocious feast of the spoils
