All shortlisted writers are expected to attend the book launch on the 30th of June at the French Institute, Abuja, where winners will be announced.


Biographies of Judges:

Chair: Prof. Unoma Azuah teaches English at Wiregrass Georgia Tech. She is an editor, a poet, and a novelist.  She has published up to six books and some of her writing awards include the Aidoo-Synder award, Spectrum award, Leonard Trawick  award and the Hellman/Hammet human rights award.

Dr. Amuche Nnabueze is a climate activist. She is a 2021 Climate Parents Fellow, and she teaches sculpture/cultural and creative art in the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, University of Nigeria. She is passionate about deploying various artistic processes to speak to sustainability of the environment and promote practices to mitigate the adverse impacts of human activities on the environment.

Dr. Sule Emmanuel Egya is a specialist in eco-Literature. He is a professor of African literature and cultural studies at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Nigeria. His research interests include the intersection of literature and politics in Africa, feminism, cultural studies, and ecocriticism. Fellowships and awards he has previously benefited from include PER SESH Writing Fellowship; the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship; the African Humanities Fellowship; and the Humboldt Talent Travel Award.

Juliette Refle is a researcher in political science at IFRA-Nigeria. She is currently developing a research interest on the social impacts of climate changes in West African coastal cities. Before that she worked for 3 years in development organizations in France, Morocco and Benin Republic which made her reflect on the circulation of power, specifically with regard to public policies at local level, as well as the interaction between local governments and other governance levels. As the research project manager at IFRA-Nigeria (University of Ibadan), she also manages various research projects and organizes scientific events.

Adaeze M. Nwadike is the founding editor of Arts Lounge Literary Magazine. She is the author of the poetry chapbook Conversations with the Sea. She is a teacher and a writer. Some of her works have appeared in Praxis journal of SUNY at Oneonta, New York, Brittle paper, the Rising Phoenix, Littlestone Journal, UK, and Lolwe among others.
