The founder of Morelifepoetry, Ken-Adele Marvellous Oruchi, popularly known as “Oruz Kennedy,” was kidnapped on Monday, 11th September. The unknown kidnappers had requested a ransom of 20 million, which was later negotiated to 5 million. Following his release, Oruz Kennedy has taken to social media to share his experience and appreciate his supporters:

“On Monday 11th September 2023, on my way back to Port Harcourt from Abuja, somewhere along the Otukpa-Enugu road; myself and every other passenger inside the vehicle I boarded were kidnapped and a ransome of 20 million naira was placed on each of us.’

‘This is by far my worst experience since the loss of my parents as I could see death staring at me in the face every time our abductors tortured us for the inability of our family and friends to raise 20 million naira to secure our release.’

‘After much begging, pleading and bargaining, they eventually settled for 5 million naira and then they told us clearly that anyone whose people were unable to pay the ransome by 10am Thursday 14th September should prepare to meet their God.’

‘I wish I can permanently forget this experience but I guess it may hunt me forever. No day went by without us being assured that it may be our last. Indeed, captivity may seem to be mere imagination until it becomes a reality.’

‘This post is to all who heard my cry for help and showed me mercy. Oruz is alive today because you had mercy on me. I do not know most of you but Jehovah knows you all and for every tear you shed on my behalf, for every prayer you uttered for my sake and for every dime you sacrificed to secure my release, may the God who lifts men lift you up and greatly replenish you.’

‘May God raise people to come to your rescue in your time of need. May the God who preserves the motherless and the fatherless show you mercy and provide for you when you cry to Him.
At some point, I lost hope because the amount seemed too great to be raised in so little a time.
Port Harcourt, who am I that you have had such pity on me and have come to my aid?’

‘Nigeria, who am I that you have shown me such great compassion?
Who am I?
Today I can play with my son again because of you all. He sees me and he smiles uncontrollably and I dance with him again because of your compassion. I can embrace my wife once more and plan our future together because men and women from far and near heard my cry for help and came to my aid. She is not a widow today because you all did all you could for my sake.
I am a product of your kindness and I pray sorrow shall forever be far from you.’

‘I got released on Thursday 14th September 2023, sometime late evening and I arrived Port Harcourt the next day.
For all your love and your sacrifice, I say thank you because you gave me life.
May tomorrow bring better testimonies to all of us in Jesus mighty name. Amen.’”
