The Words Rhymes and Rhythm Ltd has recently informed the literary public of the reformation of its initial bi-annual contest, The Brigitte Poirson Poetry Contest( BPPC) to The Brigitte Poirson Prize for Literature( BPLP). This reformation is set to welcome both poets and storytellers across Nigeria, and beyond, by the introduction of its short story category. Prizes include a $300 cash prize ($150 for poetry & $150 for short fiction,) and a chapbook publishing (digital) contract with only one winner per category.

The BPPC, founded in 2015, is a monthly contest which ran from February- September, and in 2020 adapted to a bi-monthly format. It is named in honour of the renowned French Poet, Brigitte Poirson. It welcomed entries within and across Nigeria, with the poems of the top twenty finalists being compiled into a magazine, available online and in print. So far, the BPPC has a total of seventy six past prize winners. And with the inception of its evolutionary change this September, the Words Rhymes and Rhythm are calling onto poets and short story writers to submit their entries for the The Brigitte Poirson Prize for Literature( BPLP) 2023.
