
1. Afro RomCom Writing Contest
This writing contest, sponsored by Masobe, is calling on fiction writers to explore the theme of Love as Resistance. What does it mean for love to be a resisting force? What does love mean to you as a writer?
For this competition, organizers are seeking fictional works between 1,000 and 3,000 words. Entries must not exceed 3,000 words.
The deadline for submission is June 12, 2026.
The contest has a strict no plagiarism and no AI-generated content policy.

2. Keep It Simple and Straight (KISS) Flash Fiction Competition
KEEP IT SIMPLE AND STRAIGHT (KISS) has opened its Flash Fiction Competition on the theme LOVE. It seeks stories centered on love triangles, passion, and mystery.
The maximum word count is 50 words.
To participate, writers must note the following:
- Entries must be original and not AI-generated.
- Entries must be written in English.
- The competition is open regardless of gender, age, or religion.
- The competition is exclusively for Nigerians, irrespective of their country of residence.
- Only one entry is permitted per participant.
- Entries must be submitted in PDF format and should contain only the author’s initials.
- The submission email should include the author’s full name and a brief bio.

3. The Abuja Narrative Initiative (TANI) Short Story Anthology
The Abuja Narrative Initiative (TANI) has opened a call for submissions for its short story anthology on the theme:
“Abuja: Seen, Unseen, Remembered, Imagined.”
TANI seeks stories that capture nostalgia, a once-in-a-lifetime visit, or any experience of Abuja. Stories should reflect a grounded or imaginatively consistent sense of the city.
Writers may submit one short story each, with a word count between 1,000 and 5,000 words.
