Writers seeking representation in literary and commercial fiction have a new opportunity as Carla Briner, literary agent at the Anna Jarota Agency, is currently open to submissions.
With nearly two decades of experience in publishing, Briner has worked across foreign rights, editorial, and literary representation. She represents authors writing in both English and French and is actively looking for literary fiction, narrative nonfiction, crime novels, hybrid fiction, and realistic speculative fiction.
Briner is particularly interested in manuscripts that combine a distinctive voice with compelling storytelling and emotionally complex characters. Her reading tastes range from brave epics to intimate narratives, with a special appreciation for sharp, dark, or humorous writing and stories featuring women and families that challenge stereotypes. She is currently representing authors such as Mubanga Kalimamukwento.
As an experienced editor, she also offers editorial guidance to the writers she represents.
For fiction submissions, writers should send:
- A cover letter introducing themselves and explaining what inspired them to write the book.

- The first three chapters or 50 pages of the manuscript.
For nonfiction, submissions should include:
- A cover letter.
- A detailed book outline explaining the subject and why the author is uniquely qualified to write it.
