The Hong Kong Baptist University International Writers’ Workshop has officially opened applications for its 2027 Writers-in-Residence Programme for international writers. Founded in 2004, the International Writers’ Workshop (IWW) has hosted more than 150 writers from over 60 countries.
The programme will run from February 26 to March 25, 2027, at Hong Kong Baptist University in Hong Kong. Applications are open until August 14, 2026.
To be eligible, applicants must have published at least one book in any genre and in any language, although writers working in English or Chinese are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants must currently reside outside Hong Kong and have a functional command of either English or Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese).
Selected writers will receive round-trip economy-class airfare, four weeks of on-campus accommodation, and a daily allowance (per diem). The residency will conclude with the IWW Literary Festival, themed “Inheritance.” While applicants are encouraged to reflect this theme in their work, doing so is not a requirement.
