Science research

The ERC Plus Grant Programme is currently open for application. The programme supports outstanding researchers with exceptional scientific track records to undertake ambitious, high-risk frontier research projects that extend beyond the scope of a standard European Research Council (ERC) grant. The programme welcomes projects and researchers that either redefine existing scientific fields or establish entirely new areas of research.

“Unlike traditional research grants, the ERC Plus Grant is intended for projects that are too ambitious or complex to be carried out under a regular ERC grant. The programme encourages groundbreaking ideas that have the potential to redefine existing scientific fields or establish entirely new areas of research.”

Applications are welcome from researchers of any nationality and at any career who will carry out their research at an eligible host institution in an EU Member State or an Associated Country. Successful applicants receive up to €7 million for projects lasting 4 to 7 years, with a total 2026 call budget of €210 million and approximately 30 grants awarded annually.
