University of Venda has opened call for applications for its Postdoctoral Research Fellowship opportunities to early-career researchers. The fellowship opportunities are designed to support outstanding researchers who have recently completed doctoral studies and demonstrate strong potential for high-quality scholarly outputs.
“A UNIVEN Postdoctoral Research Fellowship provides researchers with an opportunity to advance their academic careers while contributing to research that addresses important societal and scientific challenges. Successful fellows will undertake advanced research under the guidance of experienced academic researchers while contributing to the university’s research priorities. The fellowship provides a platform for researchers to expand their expertise, build academic networks, and generate knowledge that contributes to local, regional, and global development challenges.”
Applications are welcome from researchers across disciplines such as science, technology, agriculture, health, management sciences, and interdisciplinary research areas. The deadline for this application is August 19, 2026.
Successful fellows enjoy multiple benefits such as postdoctoral stipend support and research funding. They also enjoy easy access to the University facilities, have a close mentorship, as well as have their findings published.
Each applicant is expected to possess the following before applying:
- Hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline
- Have obtained their doctoral degree within the required eligibility period specified by the fellowship call
- Demonstrate evidence of research productivity through peer-reviewed publications or other scholarly outputs
- Show potential to produce high-quality research publications in accredited academic journals
- Possess strong research skills and expertise relevant to the proposed research area
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently while collaborating with academic mentors and research teams
