The Portugal Government is offering scholarships to both domestic and international students studying in Portugal for the 2026-2027 section. Portuguese students studying outside Portugal or international students not currently enrolled or about to be enrolled into any Portugal universities.
“The Government of Portugal offers financial support to eligible students enrolled in approved higher education institutions. This assistance may include tuition fee coverage, accommodation support, and other benefits. International students who meet the required eligibility criteria may also apply after securing admission and completing enrollment at a recognized institution.”
The scholarship offers tremendous benefits to its successful applicants. It covers their full tuition fee coverage, provides a monthly stipend of up to €1,250, and also provides financial support for any living expenses encountered. For those having interest in studying in Portugal, the scholarship creates access to leading Portuguese universities, gives them an opportunity to study in English or Portuguese, and also provides academic and research opportunities.
Applications are currently open and it will closes on September 30, 2026. Kindly note that this scholarship is only open to students in taking postgraduate courses. To apply, applicants should note the following:
- Open to students of all nationalities.
- Bachelor’s applicants must have completed secondary school education.
- Master’s applicants must hold a recognized Bachelor’s degree.
- PhD applicants must hold a relevant Master’s degree.
- Must meet the admission requirements of the selected university and program.
- Must demonstrate a strong academic record.
- Must provide proof of English or Portuguese language proficiency, depending on the language of instruction.
- Must submit a complete scholarship application before the deadline.
