Also known as the German Academic Exchange Service, DAAD has opened applications for its Study Scholarships for STEM Disciplines 2027/28, offering outstanding graduates from developing and emerging countries the opportunity to pursue a fully funded Master’s degree in Germany.
“The DAAD scholarship programme is designed to improve the academic qualifications and employability of talented graduates from developing and emerging nations. Through financial support and access to Germany’s world-renowned higher education system, the programme equips participants with advanced technical knowledge and research skills needed to address global and local challenges.”
The programme currently funds only applicants from the field of Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences, and Engineering. Only full-time, on-campus degree programmes that begin in the Winter Semester 2027/28 qualify for funding. Applicants with Masters degree are ineligible to apply.
Applications run on rolling basis, with no specific deadlines. Successful applicants receive funding to support their studies. They receive monthly stipend of €992, health, accident, and personal liability insurance, travel allowance (upon application), annual study allowance of €460, Carbon offset reimbursement for air travel and others as requested. However, the scholarship doesn’t cover tuition fees. Applicants must enrol in tuition-free Master’s programmes.
Funding is provided for between 10 and 24 months, depending on the standard duration of the selected Master’s programme. Applicants intending to enrol in two-year programmes should request funding for the full study period during the application process.
