The IDEA WILD is awarding grants for its 2025-2026 application session. Applicants from all parts of the world can submit as long as they have a stake in their mission. Their mission is, “to work with individual conservation professionals, empowering their research work and careers.”
“IDEA WILD does not directly fund organizations. If an organization would like to apply, a specific person must be designated as the grant recipient and contact person who will, among other things, provide resume or curriculum vitae, have a US contact for receiving/transporting/hand-delivering equipment to you, and be responsible for all communications with IDEA WILD. Specifically, that person will need to submit a final summary report with photos and documentation on how the equipment was used.”
Applications are received on a rolling basis, meaning you can apply at any time while applications are open. After submitting your online application form, you will receive confirmation of receipt of your application by email reply within two (2) weeks. It will take between four to six months to receive their final decision. The decision will be delivered via email.
In rare cases, it may take up to nine months due to requests for further information delays, specialty equipment supply issues, and other unforeseen circumstances. Shipping the equipment takes another several weeks to two months depending on the manufacturer’s timelines and your responsiveness to our emails.
Applicants should submit the following documents:
- IDEA WILD Online Application
- Project Proposal: can be the proposal prepared for the applicant’s B.S., M.S., Ph.D., independent research, NGO/NPO, Park program, etc. Can be in English or native language.
- One-page summary of your Project Proposal: English required (you will paste this into the online application form)
- Your Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV) – English is helpful
- Letter of Recommendation from your advisor: Required only for students. (English is helpful)
- Photo of the target species or habitat
- Training Certificate or proof of experience: when requesting specialized equipment (e.g. motorized vehicles, lab equipment, items with a high price point).
To receive funding, projects must have a strong practice-based biodiversity conservation aspect (versus pure science or pure policy-based projects without immediate application in the field of conservation are not funded). The total budget of the project must not be more than $1500. This includes shipping and other equipment.
