The McCormack Writing Center is offering multiple scholarship opportunities for writers applying to its 2027 Winter Online Workshop, including 15 scholarships specifically for writers residing outside the United States. The centre is also offering five general full-tuition scholarships, alongside additional awards for BIPOC writers, North American Indigenous authors, parents, trans writers and writers participating in its Without Borders programme. Applications for the workshop, which costs $900 without financial aid, are open from September 1 to September 28, 2026.

The Winter Online Workshop will run from January 4 to February 15, 2027, offering workshops in novel, short fiction, nonfiction and poetry. Participants will work in small groups of no more than 10 writers and take part in craft lectures, industry panels, agent meetings, affinity groups and other community sessions. Each participant will also have a 10-minute meeting with one of seven literary agents, including Amanda Orozco of Transatlantic Agency, Annie Hwang of Renegade Literary and Hafizah Geter of Janklow & Nesbit. Talks, readings and panels will be recorded and made available after the workshop.

The McCormack Writing Center, formerly known as the Tin House Workshop, is open to applicants aged 18 and above, including writers outside the US. Applicants submit one unpublished writing sample, up to 4,000 words for prose or four poems of up to 10 pages, and are assessed on the strength and promise of their work as well as their potential contribution to the workshop community. In addition to scholarships, the centre offers flexible payment plans and Pay It Forward application fee waivers to help make the programme accessible to more writers.
