Monash University ReDiLEEP is awarding scholarships to international students for the 2027 session. Located in Australia, the Scholarship is open to candidates interested in ecology, marine biology, environmental science, and related biological fields. The project, titled “Physiological Basis and Consequences of Response Diversity,” will explore how marine phytoplankton respond to environmental change. Moreover, the research will connect physiology, community ecology, evolution, and experimental biology.
“Monash University is an associated partner in the ReDiLEEP Doctoral Network and will host the project under the supervision of Dr. Giulia Ghedini. The network will recruit doctoral researchers for projects related to response diversity, ecosystem stability, restoration, and biodiversity. ReDiLEEP is an international doctoral network that studies response diversity and its role in ecosystem stability and resilience.”
Applications are open until October 30, 2026. The network will includes 13 linked doctoral projects across different institutions. In addition, doctoral researchers receive interdisciplinary training, supervision, secondment opportunities, workshops, conferences and professional development. The Monash project focuses on marine phytoplankton communities. Researchers will study how differences in species physiology influence the stability and recovery of ecological communities under global environmental change.
To be eligible for application, applicants should normally have:
- A Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
- A background in biology, ecology, marine biology, environmental science, or a closely related subject.
- Strong potential for high-quality research.
- Good English-language ability.
- An interest in ecological communities and environmental change.
- Willingness to work in an international research environment.
