Nigerian writer Michael Chiedoziem Chukwudera recently held a book reading and discussion for his novel Woman at a Crossroads at Adams Pages Bookstore in Mabushi, Abuja. The event took place on Saturday, September 12, bringing readers together for an afternoon of conversation around the book.

Chukwudera is an Igbo writer whose work has appeared in Jalada, The Republic, Afrocritik, Brittle Paper, Open Country, Afapinen and other literary publications. His debut novel, Loss is an Aftertaste of Memories, was published in 2024. Beyond his fiction, Chukwudera is a literary critic and community builder and the founder of the Umuofia Arts and Books Festival, established in 2023 under the Eagle Nest Literary Foundation. The festival has brought writers and readers together across southeastern Nigeria, with its 2026 edition attracting more than 1,000 visitors. Woman at a Crossroads, his second novel, published by Mmụta Books in June 2026 and has since featured in readings and literary conversations in different Nigerian cities.

Hosted at Adams Pages Bookstore, Suite 3014/3015, Kingfem 247 Plaza, the gathering lasted about four hours and drew a larger audience than Chukwudera had anticipated. The event combined readings, discussions and an informal bookish hangout, with one participant describing the afternoon as “nice and chaotic in turns” and a “jolly” time.
