Auckland Studio is inviting Potters Artists for its 2027 residency. Residents have access to the private ceramics studio in Onehunga, Auckland, as well its gas, electric, and wood kilns, glaze facilities, and technical support.
“At Auckland Studio Potters (ASP), we believe curiosity is the starting point of all great work. Our residency programme invites artists to experiment, test ideas, and push the boundaries of what clay can do – whether you’re a traditional potter exploring new surfaces, a sculptor discovering firing for the first time, or a cross-disciplinary artist investigating form and material.”
Applications are year round from 2026 throughout 2027. Residents can spend 4-12 weeks pending on their payment. The residency doesn’t offer funding, and doesn’t offer accommodation but they could offer an open, generous, and well-resourced space ideal for artists based in Auckland or those arranging their own stay.
This residency is targeting the artists that work on one of the following:
- Artists working in ceramics, sculpture, installation, or interdisciplinary practices
- Traditional potters seeking to try new directions or conceptual approaches
- Emerging and established artists alike who value experimentation and dialogue
They welcome artists who are ready to embark on an interesting adventure, are willing to think ambitiously, take creative risks, and engage with process.
To apply, send the following in PDF format to residency@ceramics.co.nz:
- A short proposal (max 300 words) outlining what you’d like to explore
